Department of Inorganic and Electrochemical Productions

The department was organized in year 2000 on basis of former departments "Technology of inorganic substances" and "Electrochemical technology and Corrosion protection", now two sections in the Department.

I. Section "Technology of inorganic substances"

In this section students are educated as B.S. in Inorganic technologies via following lecture courses: “Inorganic technology”, “Basics of catalytic processes”, “Basics of non-catalytic processes”, “Bounded nitrogen technology”, “Non-waste technologies”, “Technology of mineral acids and soda products”, “Technology of fertilizers, salts and pigments”, “Apparatus and technology design”, “Dispersed systems and pure substances technology”, “Low-temperature fluids technology and production of catalysts and adsorbents”, “Tribo-chemical, thermo-chemical and bio-chemical methods in inorganic chemistry”.

This section takes part in education of B.S. in “Ecology and technical specialization” – for all students at UCTM and B.S. in “Ecology and environment protection” with the curses: “Fluid (gases) cleaning and refinement”, “Solid waste treatment”, “Soils, soils protection and their impact on ecosystems”, “Non-waste technologies”, as well.

The section offers MSc. Specialization in “Inorganic chemistry and technology” – “Inorganic substances”, as well as PhD specialization “Inorganic technology”.

Major directions of research and development for this section are: catalysts and adsorbents, heterogeneous catalytic processes, magneto-chemistry, magnetically stabilized layers and processes thereof, plasma-chemistry and nano size-technologies, macro-kinetics and reactor design, nonacid methods for phosphoric fertilizer production, new fertilizer technology, tribology, bio-technological treatment of row materials and wastes, applied thermo-chemistry, production waste treatment and non-waste technologies design”, pigments and inorganic salts production, inorganic pharmaceutical technologies etc.

An ISO 45001 accredited laboratory “Salts, solutions and dispersions” is a part of this section.
There are 6 specialized for education and scientific research laboratories, as well.

In this section are educated students B.S. in Inorganic technologies by the following lecture courses: “Corrosion”, “Electrochemical technology”, “Electrochemical processes”, “Electrochemical power sources”, “Electrochemical synthesis”, “Electroplating”, “Corrosion protection” and Diploma projects The section takes part in education of students B.S. in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry with courses in “Corrosion” and “Corrosion Stability of Materials”.

The section offers MSc. Specialization in Electrochemistry and Corrosion Protection as well as PhD programs in Corrosion of Materials and Electrochemical Technologies.
The main areas of the scientific investigations are: stress-corrosion cracking, inhibitors, electrochemical corrosion behaviour of new materials, phosphating, electroextraction of metals, galvanic coatings, electrochemical technology in environmental protection, etc.

The section of Electrochemical technologies and corrosion protection possesses 5 specialized laboratories.
