Postgraduate Programs
Scientific directions
The University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM)
is authorised to grant the Doctor of Philosophy
degree in wide range of scientific directions such as:
- 01.01.00 Mathematics
- 01.02.00 Mechanics
- 01.03.00 Physics
- 01.05.00 Chemistry
- 02.00.00 Technical sciences
- 02.09.00 Metallurgy (all specialties)
- 02.12.00 Technology of consumers goods
- 02.13.00 Technology of forestry, wood production, cellulose-paper
industry
- 02.19.00 Other technical sciences
- 02.21.00 Automation, computer technique and managing
systems
- 02.22.00 Ecology and environmental protection
- 05.02.00 Economics, organization and management
- 05.07.00 Pedagogics
The University offers full-time, part-time or training without
assistance postgraduate education. The training must be in the
same or in similar scientific direction in which graduate.
The full-time postgraduate education requires at least four
years after Bachelor of Science
degree and three years after Master
of Science, for part-time – an year more.
Fees
The annual fees are subject to change every year, according
to the Council of Ministers Decree.
The full-time postgraduate students may apply for a room
in UCTM’s housing.

pointed out as well as the preferable foreign language.

- List of scientific papers (if any)
- Health certificate
Application
Postgraduate subjects are announced in a daily newspaper or
on the UCTM’s web-site in September each year.
The application form must be submitted up to Sept. 31 in the
Office for Science Councils and Postgraduate Students.
Exams (in specialty and in foreign language) are held in the
period of December 01-15 every year.
Training begins at March next year. Education
All full-time and part-time graduate students (after Bachelor’s
degree) have to pass at least four obligatory exams from the
Master’s degree in the first year of their education.
The postgraduate curriculum involves:
- An obligatory auditoria (lectures, seminars and exercises)
and out of auditoria
(consultations) - in general 180 hours for the all three
years
- An obligatory exams in
- main subject - with 40 credits;
- foreign language - with 10 credits;
- elected
two fundamental subjects - with 2 x 10 credits;
two specializing subjects - with 2 x 15 credits.
- The postgraduate student need 100 credits to be allowed
to defend their diploma theses.
